Hello Parents! RT Alderman and Dr. George Stanley’s Winter Concert is quickly approaching. Your children are excited to share their learning and accomplishments with you. The concert will be held on Wed. January 25th in the Lord Beaverbrook High School theatre. The evening will be split into two parts: Elementary students will perform beginning at 7:00pm and Secondary students will perform beginning at 7:45pm. After the Elementary concert has finished at 7:30, there will be a 15 minute intermission for performers and families to leave the theatre if they wish, and for other families to enter. Elementary students and families are encouraged to stay for the Secondary concert. Elementary students (grade 4 DGS, grade 5 & 6 RTA) are expected to arrive at 5:30pm for a dress rehearsal and Secondary students (grade 5-8 DGS, grade 7-9 RTA) are expected to arrive by 6:30pm to warm up. Doors will open to parents at 6:45pm. Our concerts are an important part of the music program. Each students’ attendance at the concert is necessary for the whole teams’ success. If your child can not participate, please email Mrs. Thesen at [email protected] or Mrs. Armitage at [email protected] or call the school to let us know. Lord Beaverbrook High School is located at 9019 Fairmount Drive SE. Students will be leaving their cases, coats etc. in the cafeteria which you will see to your left when you come in through the main doors. It is important that we all look the same when we perform. All performers are asked to wear black and white with the exception of RTA band students who will wear their blue band shirts and black pants. We will require parent volunteers for the following positions: Set up crew - 4:30 to 5:00pm (Moving percussion equipment from the band room to the stage, setting up band chairs and stands etc.) Take down crew – Immediately following the concert (Moving percussion equipment from the stage back to the band room, clearing the stage, stacking chairs and stands etc.) Please let us know if you can volunteer for either set up or take down that evening. We look forward to seeing you at the concert. If you have any questions please contact us at the school. Thank you, Mrs. Thesen Mrs. Armitage Music Teacher Music Teacher Dr. George Stanley & RT Alderman RT Alderman In preparation for the upcoming band concert on January 25th, I have scheduled lunch practices for band students. Please bring the instruments back to the school on January 3rd and students can store the instruments in the music room or in their school locker.
